KRISTIN AND RANDY met online in 2018 and went on their first date at Chelsea Corner in Dallas. They dated for 14 months before getting engaged. Randy was planning to propose on a trip they had planned to New York City, but they had to cancel the trip due to COVID-19. Randy decided to propose in a more intimate one-on-one setting in their home in Fort Worth.

PLANNING DURING A PANDEMIC

Kristin and Randy picked their venue, wedding planner and dress all before lockdown began, which alleviated some of the stress — at first. Invitations were incredibly delayed due to issues with the mail which then caused the RSVP cards to be delayed. They didn’t have a final headcount until just a few days before the wedding. Their original officiant was not able to travel for the wedding, so Kristin’s brother filled in at the last minute.

THE INSPIRATION

For the 11 months of planning, Kristin relied heavily on her planner, Elizabeth Gonzalez from After Yes. They toured The Fort Worth Club days before lockdown and fell in love with the space. Kristin wanted a formal affair where guests could dress up and feel good after such a chaotic year.

HOW THEY CUSTOMIZED

Ceremony flowers included tall gold vases full of fresh blooms that created an altar to frame the couple. Kristin wrapped her bouquet in her grandmother’s handkerchiefs, which were embroidered with flowers.

Because their wedding was so close to Valentine’s Day, they passed out beaded heart-shaped necklaces, sunglasses, light-up glasses and curly straws.

The Fort Worth Club provided the catering and cakes. The almond and raspberry wedding cake was adorned with a cascade of flowers.

Kristin’s ring is platinum with an oval  diamond. Her necklace was set with her mother’s original marquis engagement diamond. Randy had the necklace and the rings custom made. Randy’s ring is platinum and includes six diamonds passed down from his grandfather and father.

Kristin’s dress was an ivory long-sleeved sheath dress by Maggie Sottero. She wore a pair of ivory satin pumps with crystal beading for the rehearsal dinner and for staging pictures on the wedding day.

Their getaway car was a 1950s white Jaguar. Cold spark fountains and LED sparklers fired off as they sped away.
